Dexamethasone And Covid-19

Researchers in England has found out that the Dexamethasone being available and affordable has given a bright side to this Covid-19 stricken world.

Dexamethasone being a steroid was able to reduce the death rate in England by one-third.

The usage of Dexamethasone is however restricted to certain patients and this is backed by England government.

 Dr. Onyema Ogbuagu, an infectious disease doctor and associate professor of medicine at Yale said,

“Usually prescribed as an oral or intravenous steroid, dexamethasone is a general purpose anti-inflammatory and anti-swelling drug used for a variety of conditions”

He added,”People get the virus, it replicates, and that’s the first phase of the illness,” he said. “Afterward, around 10 days into the infection, people start to produce antibodies and inflammatory reactions to the virus.”

Usage of Dexamethasone

The following are some of the conditions that requires the usage of Dexamethasone: Arthritis, Allergies, Dermatitis, Psoriasis, Asthma, Thyroid disorder,etc.

Generally, just like any drug, Do not take Dexamethasone without consulting your doctor.

Dexamethasone is used to speed the development of the lungs of foetus. usually, high-risk pregnancy gets the administration of Dexamethasone to speed fetal lungs development.
